Join John McConnell’s 20-Year Mission

• As we enter what is traditionally known as “the giving season,” John McConnell, EVP of Talent & Content at Workhouse Media has some compelling insights to share on how best to drive philanthropic impact.

In November 2005, McConnell suffered a severe cycling accident that left him briefly paralyzed with C1 and C2 spinal fractures. Exactly one year to the day after his injury, he joined Team Reeve, the peer-to-peer endurance fundraising program of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and completed the New York City Marathon.

That single race has since sparked a 20-year commitment. John has since run nine marathons for Team Reeve, joined the Foundation’s board of trustees and currently serves as Vice Chair, and helped raise millions of dollars for spinal cord injury research and the National Paralysis Resource Center.

Today, John’s story stands as a compelling model of industry leadership turned into long-term advocacy for the 5.4 million Americans living with paralysis. He encourages members of our industry to join him in this most worthy cause — to learn how, reach out to John directly at john@workhousemedia.com.
