2019 NAB Crystal Radio Awards Revealed

• UPDATED: The NAB Show continues this week in Las Vegas. On Tuesday afternoon, the National Association of Broadcasters announced the 10 winners of the 32nd annual NAB Crystal Radio Awards. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. The 2019 NAB Crystal Radio Award recipients listed below were chosen among 50 finalists who were honored during Tuesday’s “We Are Broadcasters Celebration” — KBHP-FM/Bemidji, MN; KCVM-FM/Cedar Falls, IA; KNDE-FM/Bryan-College Station, TX; KWBG-AM/Boone, IA; WMBX-FM/West Palm Beach, FL; WMGK-FM/PhiladelphiaWRLT-FM/Nashville; WTAM-AM/Cleveland; WWPR-FM/New York and WYCT-FM/Pensacola, FL.

NAB Crystal Radio Award finalists were chosen by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms. All 50 finalists were honored and the ten winners announced during the “We Are Broadcasters Celebration,” where FCC Chairman Ajit Pai delivered remarks. During that same event, five-time NAB Crystal Radio Award-winning KFOR-AM/Lincoln, NE was presented with the prestigious (and beautiful) Crystal Heritage Award, as pictured, left.

• And in a related story, some more news broke out of the “We Are Broadcasters Celebration” yesterday, as NAB Executive Vice President of Industry Affairs Steve Newberry announced plans to revitalize The Radio Show, which will be held September 24-27 in Dallas. Part of that plan is this swell new logo, which was introduced in this brief promotional video.

“This year, we are excited to unveil a revitalized Radio Show that brings together all things audio — radio, podcasting, streaming and future technologies,” said Newberry. “We’re so pleased to partner with the Radio Advertising Bureau to bring you another terrific event. You’ll have the same exclusive access to the sessions, professional training and development opportunities you won’t find anywhere else — but you can expect a fresh, new casual vibe.” [Photo courtesy of KFOR OM/Content Director Rob Kelley]
