twenty one pilotsAs has been the case for the past several years, 75 of the 84 Grammys were awarded before the broadcast, leaving lots of room for performances and memorable “Grammy Moments™®℠©. — like this one: twenty one pilots, who dropped their tuxedo pants on their way up to the stage to accept their Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo Or Group Performance for “Stressed Out,” honoring a vow they made to themselves years ago as starving artists that if they ever won a Grammy they would do so in their underwear. In closing, Tyler Joseph offered this sage advice to other struggling artists, declaring, “Anyone from anywhere can do anything.”

• Host James Corden made quite the memorable entrance as a “malfunctioning” riser lead to him comically falling down the stairs, losing a shoe in the process. Corden later lead an impromptu session of “Carpool Karaoke” with “Sweet Caroline,” featuring the man himself, Neil Diamond, joined by Jennifer Lopez, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, John Legend, Ryan Tedder and Jason Derulo.

• Other favorite moments: The Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood duet, “The Fighter;” In an ambitious mid-show performance, Katy Perry debuted her new hooky new Capitol single, “Chained To The Rhythm,” accompanied by Skip Marley; the Maren Morris and Alicia Keys duet of “Once;” Kelsea Ballerini and Lukas Graham‘s beautiful mash-up duet of her hit “Peter Pan” and his smash, “7 Years.” Ed Sheeran was a late addition to the show, flying in from New York after his appearance on Saturday Night Live to perform “Shape Of You.”

• To no one’s surprise, the highly anticipated performance of A Tribe Called Quest was decidedly political, ending with a call to “RESIST!” The complete list of youuuur 2017 Grammy winners is posted on Grammy.com.
