Smulyan To Be Honored

Jeff Smulyan, Chairman, CEO and Founder of Emmis Communications Corporation, has been named the recipient of this year’s Mike Carroll Award, which is given in memory of former Indianapolis Deputy Mayor and civic leader Mike Carroll. The annual award, as selected by the Indianapolis Business Journal, honors a community member who has demonstrated Mike’s qualities of determination, humility and devotion to the central Indiana community.

“Jeff Smulyan’s contributions to central Indiana extend far beyond what he has achieved at Emmis Communications,” said Greg Morris, Publisher and President of Indianapolis Business Journal. “He cares deeply about the community and as a result is always happy to help out organizations large and small.” Smulyan remarked, “I’m humbled to be given the Mike Carroll Award. Mike was a visionary leader in our community, and I’m incredibly honored to be added to the remarkable group of previous leaders who have won this award.”

Smulyan will be presented with the award at the IBJ‘s upcoming “Engage Indiana” event on Friday, December 8.
