Condolences: Paul Menard

Paul Menard, best known as “Irv Harrigan,” half of the National Radio Hall of Fame morning duo Charlie & Harrigan, died peacefully in a North County San Diego hospital on Tuesday, September 25. He was 81 years old.

Menard (right) was a popular morning disc jockey on KOMA-AM/Oklahoma City as “Paul Miller” in the early ’60s before he was teamed up with Jack Woods (a.k.a. “Charlie Brown“) in 1965 at KLIF-AM/Dallas to form “Charlie & Harrigan.”

Together the guys went on to great success at WKYC/Cleveland, KILT/Houston, KFMB and KCBQ/San Diego and WAVA/Washington. At one point their syndicated Charlie & Harrigan Presents morning show was heard daily in 53 markets.

Fun Facts: Menard was instrumental in naming the new night jock “Charlie Tuna” in the early ’60s at KOMA/Oklahoma City, and he also played a role in producing The Lemon Pipers’ 1967 No. 1 hit, “Green Tambourine.”

Menard is survived by his wife Patti, five daughters, sons-in-laws and grandchildren, and he’s now reunited with his former partner Woods, who died in 2015.
