Summers Forever In Philly
• Beasley Media Group has inked a swell multi-year extension deal with market legend Andie Summers to remain in morning drive on Country WXTU (92.5 XTU)/Philadelphia, just as she has for the past 24 years.
As the company states, “The Andie Summers Show continues to be a consistently highly rated morning show in the Philadelphia market. Summers has been waking up Country music fans in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties on 92.5 XTU since 1999. She has earned the love of her listeners and the respect of the Country music community, winning several awards, including the CMA Award for Major Market Personality of the Year twice, and the ACM award for Major Market Station of the Year.” Summers is also a two-time Gracie Award winner, and earlier this year she received an honorary doctorate from Immaculata University.
Summers began her radio career in 1995 as a morning host, promotions director and producer at WKXP, which she described as “a small, 12,000-watt Mom & Pop Country station in Bloomsburg, PA.” She continued to hone her craft as morning show host at WGGY (Froggy 101)/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA before making the major move up to 92.5 XTU where, along with anchoring the morning show she has hosted various music specials and sports programming, including Eagles Primetime Live — a weekly show Andie hosted alongside various Philadelphia Eagles players.
Summers is also dedicated to volunteerism, offering her talents and financial support to her church, St. Joseph’s of Downingtown, as well as The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Liberty USO, and many others.
