That’s A S**tload Of Cans
Last Thursday and Friday, beloved New Hampshire morning show Greg & The Morning Buzz embarked on their 26th annual “Lend A Helping Can” holiday food drive. Host Greg Kretschmar and his crew pulled off two consecutive 13 1/2-hour broadcasts designed to encourage donations to help 11 New Hampshire charities all working to combat local hunger. We are pleased to report that after the donations were tallied, along with the results of the sale of some awesome auction items, the campaign raised over $150,000! During the event, Greg & The Morning Buzz welcomed special guests Tom Bergeron, host of Dancing With the Stars, comedian Larry the Cable Guy, Peter Frampton and Sully Erna of Godsmack who lent their support to “Lend a Helping Can.”
“The word ‘thankful’ can’t even begin to express how I feel about our audience,” Kretschmar said. “Every year we ask them to help, and every year they answer the call. Knowing that together, the money we raised will feed hundreds of thousands of meals to folks in need is very humbling. We are eternally grateful to our incredible listeners.” Market President Joe Graham was equally thrilled but not surprised at the large outcome, commenting, “Every year, we start with no stated goal — other than to help alleviate hunger in New Hampshire. Once The Buzz hits the air, the phones and the web heat up and we grow the dollars every year. This is the biggest total we have ever had — and is testament that radio makes a huge difference in our communities. I couldn’t be prouder of our team!” To date the Morning Buzz and its generous listeners have raised over $1 million to combat local hunger.
