AMP Radio Philly Phlips To AC

Today's 96.5 PhillyCBS Radio surprised a few folks yesterday when they flushed the Top 40 format on WZMP (96.5 AMP Radio)/Philadelphia and flipped the station to AC as Today’s 96.5, promising “Better Variety, Fewer Commercials” while playing hits from Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, P!NK, Taylor Swift… you get the idea. “We are excited to debut Today’s 96.5 with a mix of music that will engage our audience on air, on-line and onsite at concerts and local events,” said David Yadgaroff, SVP/Market Manager of CBS Radio Philadelphia. “Today’s 96.5 will bring fun and upbeat programming to Philadelphia radio. We will also offer the local and national advertising market unique sponsorship opportunities across all of our platforms.” PD Bobby Smith added, “This is a station that will make you forget that you’re still at work with one great song after another while delivering on the promise of having fewer interruptions so you can always look forward to hearing another great song.”

It was April 11, 2015 when the former WDRW (Wired 96.5) was changed over to the company’s AMP Radio brand, mirroring sister stations in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Detroit and Orlando. We are told that existing AMP morning personality Bex and evening entertainer Bennett will remain with the station in time slots to be determined, and Today’s 96.5 will soon be posting fulltime on-air openings on the CBS Radio Careers section.
