Remembering Lisa McKay
• We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn that Lisa McKay Blake, the award-winning VP of Radio for Curtis Media Group and PD of Country WQDR/Raleigh, died Sunday, January 14. According to a statement from management, McKay “passed away peacefully this morning after a brief battle with cancer.” This devastating news came about 48 hours after Friday’s announcement that McKay was taking an immediate and indefinite leave of absence “to address a health issue.”
The Curtis Media family held a meeting at the station Sunday morning to mourn the passing of one of their own. Curtis Media Group President/COO Trip Savery commented, “It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news of Lisa’s passing. She had a tremendous and positive impact on so many people’s lives and careers, and will be greatly missed by all of us. Please send your love, support and prayers to Lisa and her family.”
