Morning Scramble: It’s What’s For Breakfast

• NRG Media Rhythmic KOPW (Power 106.9)/Omaha is launching a new live and local morning show Monday morning by skillfully combining several popular local personalities — Chef West And The Morning Scramble will be anchored by six-year Power 106.9 vet Tay Westberry, who moves up from nights, and singer Alyssa Siebken, a veteran of American Idol.

Westberry, a.k.a. “Mr. West,” is an Omaha native who has hosted the station’s 7-midnight Blackout show, delivering No. 1 ratings among 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54 demos, we are told. He’s also a popular local club DJ and an accomplished gourmet chef — hence the catchy “Chef West” handle. Alyssa Siebken made it to the Hollywood rounds during Season 13 of American Idol in 2014. She currently performs all around the Omaha metro and has opened for Ben Rector and Jake Miller.

Power 106.9 PD Caleb Farnell is excited about this new pairing, commenting, “Tay has his finger firmly on the pulse of the Power listener, and Alyssa will be able to bring a valuable perspective to the show.” Market Manager Mark Shecterleadded, “We have been looking for the right combination to bring a local and live morning show to Power 106.9, and match the performance level of the rest of the station — we have found that in Tay and Alyssa.”

Chef West And The Morning Scramble replaces the syndicated Big Boy’s Neighborhood. Power 106.9 is now seeking a new night show.
