Cumulus Media Salt Lake City had some fun at 4pm yesterday afternoon by flushing its 17-month-old Classic Hip Hop format KENZ (94-9 The Vibe) and launching a new Top 40 station — say hello to Power 94.9, “Utah’s New Hit Music,” under the command of PD Rick Vaughn.

Patrick Reedy, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media Salt Lake City said, “We’re excited to offer a fresh CHR approach to the Salt Lake City market. Although there are some very well programmed CHRs in SLC currently, we believe Rick Vaughn’s prior multi-city success in exploiting listeners’ unmet needs within the CHR format speaks for itself. In addition, we also believe that advertisers will find Power 94.9 to be the perfect complement to our sister station B98.7.” Reedy then handed the mic to Vaughn, who added, “Without handing everyone our playbook, I think listeners will feel very quickly the difference between Power 94.9 and every other station in Salt Lake City — and love what they hear.”
