Take Us To The River

River Sacramento staffIn this particular instance, we have been informed that a format flip is indeed coming to iHeartMedia Adult Hits KQJK (93.7 Jack FM)/Sacramento on April 3 — however, the exact details about this new format have not been revealed as of yet — most likely some form of Rock, given the pedigree of the new staff — but here’s what we do know so far — in a festive reception for the local iHeartMedia staff last Friday, iHeartMedia Sacramento SVP of Programming Curtiss Johnson revealed the new name of the station will be 93.7 The River and introduced the new River crew, all of them seasoned market vets who worked with Johnson during his earlier 18-year stint as Director of Programming/Station Manager of Entercom’s KSEG (Eagle 96.9), KWOD and KRXQ (98 Rock). Johnson will also be the day-to-day PD of The River.

The River’s broadcast day will lead off with the Dog and Joe Sho, hosted by Craig “Dog” Stalians and Joe Maumee, who most recently did afternoons together at Entercom Active Rock KRXQ (98 Rock). Middays/production/creative services will be the domain of Ms. Monica Lowe, who spent the past eight years working in the Creative Services department of Entercom Sacramento. She previously spent 16 years over at the CBS Radio building doing mornings, afternoons and middays on KZZO.

New River afternoon personality Derek Moore is probably best known for his 15-year run in nights at Entercom Classic Rock KSEG (Eagle 96.9); for the past three years he’s been with Entercom Sports-Talk KIFM-AM (ESPN 1320) as APD and Executive Producer of The Rise Guys show. Moore will also serve as Director of Digital Content for the iHeartMedia cluster. Rounding out The River’s airstaff will be the syndicated Sixx Sense at night. Pictured, (l-r): Derek Moore, Monica Lowe, Joe Maumee, Dog and Joe Producer Dana Thompson and Dog.
