Westwood One, America’s largest radio network and the exclusive network radio partner for the National Football League, salutes excellence in audio creative by showcasing the best radio commercials within the biggest sporting and advertising event of the year, the Super Bowl. To that end, for the fifth consecutive year, the Westwood One Sports Sound Awards will rank the most creative national audio commercials airing during Westwood One’s exclusive Super Bowl LII broadcast.

A large social, digital and broadcast marketing campaign is sending listeners and a panel of advertising pros to TheSoundAwards.com to vote for their favorite ads. Voting is open NOW and runs through Monday, February 5, with the big winner revealed Tuesday, February 6. Listeners can listen and vote on nearly 50 commercials. The goal of the contest is not only to entertain but to also highlight the power of sonic branding to capture consumer attention and convey brand attributes.

“Brands want to reach consumers in a way that resonates emotionally, and a stellar way to do that today is with sonic branding,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Corporate Marketing for Cumulus Media and President of Westwood One. “Great brands use sound strategically to cut through the clutter and identify their values. From radio to podcasting, to smart speakers, we’re working with our advertising clients to test and craft creative, so each brand is optimized to connect with hearts and minds, and drive ROI.”

The 2018 Westwood One Sports Sound Awards winner will join a formidable group of past champions. Motel 6 landed the top spot in 2017. Westwood One will broadcast national play-by-play coverage of Super Bowl LII live from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis this Sunday, February 4. Sir Rosevelt, the southern pop collaboration of Zac Brown, Niko Moon and Ben Simonetti, will open Westwood One’s Super Sunday broadcast with a customized version of their hit song, “The Bravest.”
