A.J. Caught Up In iHeart Downsizing

• We understand that this most recent round of restructuring inside iHeartMedia is reportedly over… but first… RAMP has confirmed the departure of 12-year company veteran A.J., Region SVP of Programming for the Carolina Metro (Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro & Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC).

RAMP reached out to A.J., who commented, “I am forever grateful for the past 12 years of collaboration, growth, and shared success with iHeart. I’m proud of the numerous collective achievements of both myself and of each and every one of my many team members across the more than 15 markets that I’ve overseen through the years. I thank iHeart for being a remarkable chapter in my story and wish the iHeart team, both local and global, the best, always and forever. I will certainly always bleed iHeart red, no doubt. For now though, I know I have so much more to achieve still in my own story; and I look forward to the next chapter in that story with a drive to continue to contribute, innovate, and succeed.”

Early in his career A.J. spent 13 years with now Cumulus Top 40 WBHT/Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA, the first seven doing mornings before rising to PD/afternoons for the next six. He joined iHeartMedia in 2012 as PD of Top 40 WWHT (Hot 107.9)/Syracuse and Rhythmic WKGS (Kiss 106.7)/Rochester, NY, while also supervising WKKF/Albany, WBNW/Binghamton and WJJS/Roanoke, VA. He was later named SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Richmond & Norfolk, VA, followed by a transfer to St. Louis as Regional SVP of Programming for the St. Louis Region and PD of Top 40 KSLZ (Z107.7) and KATZ (Hallelujah 1600).

A.J. earned the transfer to Charlotte in Feb. 2018, when he was named PD of Top 40 WHQC (now HITS 96.1) and Adult Hits WLKO (102.9 The Lake). A year later he was promoted to Region SVP of Programming for the company’s Virginia-Carolina region.

• We hear that several more names may surface soon, but word is, this current round of restructuring is over for now. Looking ahead, A.J. can be contacted at 570-239-7943 or Heyitsaj728@gmail.com.
