Beeler Ready To Take On ‘The World’
• The World, public radio’s longest-running daily global news program, announced that correspondent Carolyn Beeler has been elevated to co-host of the show alongside longtime host Marco Werman, beginning Jan. 16.
The World is produced by Boston-based GBH, and PRX, one of the world’s top public radio and podcast distributors and airs on 376 public radio stations across the U.S. and Canada, reaching an audience of more than two million nationwide each week.
“We’re delighted to have Carolyn Beeler in this new role as co-host for The World,” said Executive Producer Dan Lothian. “She has been a long-time voice on The World, providing smart insights and clarity in her reporting about difficult situations, from Ukraine to climate change. She’ll work closely with Marco to ensure our audience continues to understand the world we live in today.”
Beeler joined The World in 2015 as a reporter and currently oversees the show’s environment coverage, reporting and editing stories about climate change. “The World does international news like nobody else on public radio,” Beeler said, “and I’m thrilled to work alongside Marco and our stellar team of producers in this new role.”
Werman joined The World as a reporter when the show launched in 1995 and was named as the full-time host in 2013. “Carolyn is an exceptional journalist and has contributed significantly to The World since she joined the team,” Werman said. “Her work on climate-related stories, including looking for solutions to this existential crisis, is impactful and brings significant value to our listeners. Having her as a co-host will be a gift for me and our audience.”
Beeler and Werman will host The World Monday through Thursday, and Beeler and Carol Hills will host the show on Fridays.
