Bob Kelley… And All That Jazz
• Listener-supported WUCF-FM (89.9 Jazz & More), located on the campus of the University of Central Florida in Orlando has tapped market vet Bob Kelley as the new host of Morning Jazz. He succeeds Marc Taylor, who left in October.
Kelley’s relationship with Smooth Jazz radio dates back to 1978 when he was hired to to mornings on WLOQ/Orlando. In 1992, Kelley went to work for AC WMGF (Magic 107.7) as MD/afternoon talent. After a short break from radio, Kelley returned to WLOQ in 2005 as part-time/fill-in. He joined WUCF in 2015 as Saturday Jazz host (which he continues to do), and in 2019 was named Midday Jazz host.
Kayonne Riley, Director of Radio at WUCF, noted, “Bob brings a wealth of experience as a radio personality, he’s well-known in our community, and he’s also a big fan of jazz music. Bob is so knowledgeable about the artists, and the history of jazz — and this love shines through when he’s talking to the music makers and jazz artists of today. His professionalism and enthusiasm for jazz music and its rich heritage makes Bob the perfect person to start our days with, and we’re so happy that he’s here with us at WUCF 89.9!”
Kelley said, “I’m honored to be selected as host of Morning Jazz, as it has been a part of my life for more than 40 years. Jazz has grown and changed yet continue to be a celebration of spirit showing a freedom of feeling and ideas and become more global with all corners of the world being represented. After all these years I can surely say I never stop learning…. nor want to.”
