DZL On The Loose
• RAMP has confirmed that 18-year iHeartMedia veteran Chuck “DZL” Thompson has exited his position as PD of Alternative WEND (106.5 The End) & Classic Rock WRFX (99.7 The Fox)/Charlotte and Classic Rock WRDU/Raleigh.
DZL had been with iHeartMedia since 2002. He notably spent eight years as APD/MD/afternoon personality at WEND until January 2017, when he transferred to the PD post at Alternative sister WRXL (XL102)/Richmond. In August of that year he was called back to The End, this time as PD, succeeding market legend Jack Daniel. In June 2019 DZL crossed the hall to program Country WKKT (96.9 The Kat)/Charlotte before returning to the Rock side in January 2021 as PD of WEND & Classic Rock WRFX (99.7 The Fox)/Charlotte, and picking up WRDU/Raleigh.
