Hall Of Famer, Ed Scarborough!
• We are sending our most sincere congratulations to legendary programmer and consultant Ed Scarborough, who last week was inducted into the St. Louis Media History Foundation Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony was held last Thursday, February 1 at the Sheldon Ballroom in St. Louis. Scarborough was recognized for his valuable contributions to St. Louis radio, including his successful stint as PD of CBS Radio’s KHTR (Hit Radio 103) in the mid’80s, and an earlier run at KSD-AM.
Scarborough was inducted alongside fellow St. Louis media icon Joe Buck, who was described by Scarborough as “one of the most down-to-earth, approachable, humble ‘celebrities’ you could ever hope to meet.”
Another major highlight of the evening was the chance for Scarborough (right) to reunite with a bunch of his former KHTR colleagues, who, like Ed, all went on to even bigger successes. Pictured, (l-r): John Frost (afternoon drive), now a well-respected radio consultant specializing in faith-based formats; Kevin McCarthy (middays) created a nationally syndicated travel program that aired in 37 U.S. markets and three in Europe; Bob Scott (morning drive) became “Dave Lennox,” and was the face of Lennox Air Conditioning for over 30 years!
Unable to attend: Casey VanAllen (evenings), now a media mogul in Lake of the Ozarks, owner several radio properties and a television station. Craig Roberts (overnights) became a major V/O actor based in LA. “I’m pretty proud of these guys,” Scarborough said. We’re pretty sure the feeling is mutual. [Special thanks to Bill Gardner]
