Kapugi Exits CBS Radio

kapugi-jeff-2015RAMP has confirmed that Jeff Kapugi has exited CBS Radio after a six-year run, the last five as the company’s VP of Country Programming and PD of WUSN (US 99)/Chicago. Kapugi had been in his current post since Sept. of 2011, earning a transfer from the PD post at CBS Radio AC & Hot AC sisters KEZK (Fresh 102.5) and KYKY (Y98)/St. Louis. A native of the Windy City, Kapugi previously served as SVP/COO for Tribune Interactive in Chicago.

Kapugi’s lengthy radio history is highlighted by his two tours of duty in Tampa with Jacor and Clear Channel — the first time around, he rose through the ranks to become PD of WFLZ. In 1997, he transferred to St. Louis to program Clear Channel sisters KSLZ & KLOU. Three years later he returned to Tampa, this time as OM of WFLZ, WMTX (Mix 100.7) and then-WSSR (Star 95.7), which later flipped to WBTP (95.7 The Beat). In February 2006, Kapugi earned a transfer to Washington as RVP of Programming of the company’s DC/Baltimore group and PD of WIHT (Hot 99.5) before he was hired away by Tribune in August 2008. We understand that CBS Radio Chicago SVP/Market Manager Tim Pohlman has now begun the search for a successor to Kapugi, who can be reached at jeffkapugi@gmail.com.
