Power 96 Throws It Back

UPDATED: Getting an early jump on the traditional Memorial Day Weekend format flips, RAMP has confirmed that Audacy has transitioned WPOW (Power 96)/Miami from Gold-leaning Rhythmic Top 40 to Classic Hip Hop, accompanied by the new slogan, “Miami’s New Home For Throwbacks.”

The changeover took place at 5pm local time on Thursday, with “Take It To The House” by Trick Daddy blasting from the speakers, followed by “The Anthem” (Pitbull ft. Lil Jon); “Lean Back” (Terror Squad ft. Fat Joe & Remy); “My Boo” (Ghost Town DJs); “Peaches & Cream” (112); “Can I Get A” (JAY Z); and “Hips Don’t Lie” (Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean) … you get the idea.

“Our listeners have been asking for it!” said Power 96 Brand Manager Will Calder. “We’re excited to announce the next chapter of Power 96 as ‘Miami’s New Home for Throwbacks.’ This music is the heartbeat of Miami’s vibrant culture, shaping our city’s identity and bringing back the best memories and feel-good vibes that make South Florida so unique.”

Power 96’s weekday on-air lineup will continue as follows — 6-10am ET: Wake Up Miami with DJ Zog & Ivy Unleashed; 10am-2pm: Johanna Gomez; 2-7pm: Mijo.
