Pros On The Loose: KS95’s Staci & Hutch

The news was delivered in a staff memo from Dan Seeman, President/Region Manager, Hubbard Minnesota, and which is posted below.
Matthews, most notably, had been with KS95 since 2003, the first 16 years as Larry “Moon” Thompson‘s afternoon co-host. Following Moon’s retirement in 2019, Matthews welcomed new co-host Hutch, who was previously PD/morning personality at Alpha Media’s KEEZ/Mankato, MN. Hutch cut his teeth at KKLS (Hot 104.7)/Sioux Falls, SD before his seven-year run in Mankato.
Hutch remarked, “With 25+ years in broadcast media and brand communications, I understand how to craft a message people care about — and I know how to deliver it in a way that moves the needle. Whether I’m on-air, leading a team, writing a press release, or building a brand voice from the ground up-my goal is the same: to connect, engage, and make sure your story is the one people remember. From small-market grinding to major-market drive times, my entire career has been about one thing: knowing how to connect with an audience and win.” Hutch (who has a home studio perfect for tracking) can be contacted at withhutch1@gmail.com.
Here is Dan Seeman’s memo in its entirety:
“Late yesterday afternoon Chris Eagan and I met with Staci and Hutch and informed them that we will not be renewing their contract. As you can imagine, this was an incredibly difficult decision, and I think it’s important that we take a moment to acknowledge the many successes that Staci and Hutch contributed to KS95.
KS95 hired Staci Matthews in 2003, pairing her with Larry ‘Moon’ Thompson to transform afternoon drive in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market. And they did. Moon and Staci were the top-rated afternoon drive show in the Twin Cities for 16 years. They were four-time finalists for a Marconi Award for Large Market Personalities of the Year and won the award in 2012. Staci has been a strong supporter of many community service projects, including KS95 for Kids, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, breast cancer awareness and, most recently, working with Hutch to raise money and awareness for mental health issues in Minnesota. After 23 years at KS95, Staci Matthews has left an indelible mark on the radio station and the entire Minneapolis-St. Paul community.
In 2019, after Moon’s retirement, Hutch joined Staci to host the Staci & Hutch show on KS95. The two enjoyed early ratings success and helped the Twin Cities community stay positive through some very difficult times in Minnesota, including the coronavirus epidemic in 2020. Hutch has always been a tireless advocate for Hubbard and in addition to hosting afternoons on KS95, Hutch also worked with Channel 5’s Minnesota Liveand hosted shows on Hubbard’s KIK-FM and Cool 94.3 in Alexandria.
Please join me wishing Staci & Hutch nothing but the very best in their future endeavors.
Chris and I will now be focused on finding the next great afternoon drive show for KS95. KS95 has always been a personality-forward radio station and that will continue. We will update you on a short-term plan for afternoon drive in the next few days.”
