Quirk Upped To PD, NHPR
• New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) makes it official and elevates 11-year station veteran Emily Quirk to Program Director, succeeding Michael Brindley, who left last year. The move makes perfect sense — for the past six months, Quirk has filled a portion of NHPR’s PD responsibilities along with those of her regular position as Production Manager. During that time, she has supervised NHPR’s programming department, managed the on-air schedule and special coverage plans, worked with the podcast team to bring their journalism to the radio audience, negotiated with suppliers of syndicated programming, and more. As Production Manager, Quirk has coordinated on-air fundraisers, produced Give Back NH segments, and developed the NHPR Music vertical, while also hosting many NHPR programs.
The promotion makes Quirk the leader of live broadcast platforms and live events programming for the statewide public broadcaster. In her new role, she will lead NHPR’s efforts to use radio, the livestream and events to maximize the impact of the organization’s journalism and to grow and diversify NHPR audiences on those platforms.
In making the announcement of Quirk’s upgrade, Jim Schachter, NHPR’s President & CEO, said, “Emily is dynamic and energetic, a can-do person who makes good things happen.” Before joining the NHPR staff in 2012, Quirk held a variety of roles at KUSP, the public radio station in Santa Cruz, CA.
