Relax, Long Island… KJOY Is Back!

• On Friday, May 17 at 5pm ET, Connoisseur Media AC WKJY/Long Island is resurrecting its iconic “KJOY 98.3” brand, and shelving its six-year-old “K-98.3” identifier. “We’re so excited to restore the instantly-familiar KJOY name to 98.3,” said a clearly excited PD Jon Daniels. “Long Islanders know what KJOY means: a great, family-friendly mix of music, which helps the workday move by faster, along with important and timely local information for Long Island.”

Jim Condron, SVP/Market Manager for Connoisseur Media Long Island, remarked, “As the only English-speaking radio station home to Nassau County, KJOY not only provides the ability to create a bridge between our listeners and marketers, it does so with no waste. I’m proud to re-introduce the name to the station, which was known as KJOY when I began working here in 1997.”

The KJOY music mix features popular hits from the ’80s, ’90s and today, skillfully blended with some “KJOY Classics” from the ’70s. “Every song is instantly familiar, and safe to listen to with your kids in the car,” remarked OM Patrick Shea. “Go ahead, sing along… we will be too!” Connoisseur Media Founder/CEOJeffrey Warshaw commented, “The Long Island media market has gotten more and more contemporary over time, and people have told us they’re craving a ‘place to relax.’ This is the perfect time to welcome KJOY 98.3 back to the Long Island airwaves.”

Concurrent with the KJOY rebranding, the station will now offer two consecutive hours of commercial-free music each weekday, starting at 9am, and the popular John Tesh Radio Show moves up its weeknight start time to 5pm.
