WAMU Goes Looking For Tribble

• American University’s WAMU 88.5 FM/Washington has named Michael Tribble as Chief Content Officer, taking over content operations of the award-winning newsroom and programming giant. WAMU is home to several locally produced programs, including The Politics Hour, Hot Jazz Saturday Night, and The Big Broadcast, as well as the nationally distributed 1A and the On My Mind podcast.

Tribble joins the WAMU leadership team on Jan. 29 under GM Erika Pulley-Hayes, who said, “Michael has a unique combination of experience as an award-winning strategist for multiplatform storytelling, with a strong background in, and passion for, local journalism. He will be an essential partner in continuing WAMU’s legacy of trust and delivering on our commitment to innovate with audiences, wherever they consume media.”

Tribble segues from National Geographic, where he served as VP of Multi-Platform Content and Integrated Storytelling. As a journalist, Tribble has directed content and teams for leading regional and national publications, including The Cleveland Plain Dealer, San Jose Mercury News, Charlotte Observer, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“WAMU is such an extraordinary institution that plays a vital role in the heart of D.C. and the region,” said Tribble. “I’m honored for the chance to serve this community and excited about forging stronger bonds with our audience and shaping how we connect with the next generation of WAMU fans.”
