Hey, San Diego: Mikey’s Back!
Midwest Television’s Variety Rock KFMB (100.7 KFM-BFM)/San Diego has wisely tapped into the extensive market equity possessed by Mikey Esparza, hiring him to host The Mikey Show weekdays from 3-7:30pm, beginning this Thursday, July 27. Esparza is a 30-year radio vet whose most recent San Diego stop was mornings on Lincoln Financial (now Entercom) Alternative KBZT (FM 94/9)/San Diego until March 2012. He later hosted the nationally syndicated Rock All Night. Esparza also spent 5 1/2 years in mornings on iHeartMedia Active Rock KIOZ/San Diego. He began his career at KFOX/Tucson, and has also cracked the mic at KEGL/Dallas and KSJO/San Jose, to name a few.
Concurrent with Esparza’s debut in afternoons, PD “Mike V.” Vasquez will rotate from pm drive into nights, the former domain of APD Robin Roth, who recently moved to middays. Vasquez said, “Mikey’s passion for creating compelling content and his love of rock and roll make him the ideal choice to entertain San Diego during the afternoon commute. With The DSC entertaining our fans in the morning, the legendary Robin Roth rockin’ the workday and The Mikey Show on the drive home, KFM-BFM is committed to delivering quality programming.”
Esparza commented, “I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I’m blessed to be a part of such a great station with such a cool staff! I can’t wait to rock people on their drive home.”
