New Day Dawns At KVOO/Tulsa

• Two weeks we told you that Griffin Communications’ Country 98.5 KVOO/Tulsa had hired Brooks Williams as its new midday personality. Williams (the artist formerly known as “Cash Williams“) joins KVOO after nine years with SummitMedia Country KTTS/Springfield, MO, most recently as APD/MD and morning co-host.

Now, in an interesting plot twist, Griffin Tulsa Director of Operations Steve Hunter announced that, after two grueling weeks in middays, Williams will instead set his alarm for 4am-ish and join MD/morning host Amber Glaze as KVOO’s newly minted morning team, starting at 5am Monday. Williams replaces Marty Young, who left last Thursday. The official video announcement is posted on Amber’s Facebook page.

In a staff memo, Hunter explained, “Since joining us several months ago, Amber has rapidly become a very important member of our programming team, and quickly stepped up to co-host the KVOO morning show. Her quick wit and creative energy have already helped improve the station and she is just getting started! In addition to hosting our morning show, Amber will continue as our music director.”

Weighing in on the hire of Williams, Hunter said, “I met Brooks over a year ago while he was hosting morning drive at KTTS in Springfield and knew that he would be the perfect addition to our team. The timing didn’t work out and he stayed in Springfield to help with programming while hosting a top-rated morning show. But a few months ago, we started talking again about Tulsa, and we are all very happy to have him here.” Williams can now be reached at brooks.williams@griffin.news.
