WILN Welcomes Two

Magic Broadcasting’s WILN (Island 106)/Panama City, FL is proud to welcome two new members to its collection of “felons and freaks,” in the words of OM/PD Marc Summers. First up is Alexa Rodriguez, who, Summers says, “Began as an intern with the station, showed the unbridled passion and raw talent needed to succeed, and a willingness to feed our collection of Promotion Midgets (these bastards bite when they’re hungry!). She has already begun to bring her Harry Potter fetish, and love for all things hit music, to Island 106 from 11pm to 2am.”

And, from the “WTF Were They Thinking” file, Island 106 has decided that the 8th time is the charm and has returned Kato to the PM drive position he previously inhabited from 2006 to 2012, achieving the highest ratings in the station’s history. As Summers notes, “Kato has been terminated in some of America’s biggest markets: Phoenix, Dallas and St. Louis,” adding, “If things don’t work out, at least I’ll get to fire him for the 4th time!”

GM Misty Sims added, “It’s too easy to get caught up in the ever-increasing pressure to cut payroll, but the forward-thinking, and I believe, long-term players in broadcasting will recognize the value of difficult-to-duplicate, highly engaging talent, and invest in the training and the support needed to make them stars in their markets! Anyone can play 12 in a row, but who else can put the power of Kato on the air? No one but us… at least until we can his ass again!”
