• Beasley Active Rock 93.3 WMMR/Philadelphia is proud to announce that the generous listeners of the Preston & Steve morning show came through in a huge way, setting a new record in donations to the 20th Annual Preston & Steve Camp Out For Hunger.

From 6am on Monday, November 27 through 11am on Friday, December 1, hosts Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison took up temporary residence in the luxurious parking lot of Xfinity Live! Philadelphia and solicited food donations from listeners and businesses. The community did not disappoint — a total of 1,679,823 pounds (that’s over 839 tons of food) and $272,683 in cash were collected — enough to provide over 2.2 million meals for individuals who face hunger insecurity. The guys started their food drive back in 1998 because they believed hunger was a real issue in the Philadelphia area and needed to be addressed. Their goal that first year was to collect one ton of food, which they (to their own surprise) achieved.

Dozens of local and national celebrities, performers and athletes were on hand to lend their support this year. Donors were treated to free coffee in the morning, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day. There were also plenty of prizes and incentives and free events at night, including a Preston & Steve Calendar Girl signing, a comedy night, a family movie night and watch parties for Sixers and Flyers games. The largest corporate donation — $471,375 — came from Subaru of America, which bought them a live Preston & Steve broadcast from their headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ.
