91X, Goldenvoice Fight For Firefighters
• Local Media San Diego Alternative XTRA (91X)/San Diego and Goldenvoice made a joint donation of $15,540.10 to the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation — a valuable contribution made possible by ticket sales and donations at the 91X Wrex the Halls concert in December. You may recall that Wrex the Halls went on as scheduled at Valley View Casino Center as the Lilac Fire was burning in North County. To aid in relief efforts, 91X and Goldenvoice each committed $1.00 per ticket sold, and also asked concertgoers to contribute as well.
Gregg Wolfson, VP/GM of 91X and LMSD remarked, “It’s hard to focus on concerts and entertainment when our own San Diegans are in peril, and 91X is all about serving our local community. The decision to partner up with Goldenvoice and the fans to support our own was an easy one. We are proud to support the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation knowing that it will have a positive impact for San Diego.” Wendy Robinson, Executive Director of the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation commented, “We’re so grateful for this generous gift from 91X, Goldenvoice and their listeners who came together and supported our first responders. This donation will help us support the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department with enhanced equipment, training and technology so our first responders can better protect the citizens and property of San Diego and the surrounding region.”
Representatives from 91X and Goldenvoice presented the giant cardboard novelty check to Fire Chief Brian Fennessy and Foundation Co-Chair Kevin Leap last Friday during a “Coffee with the Chief” event at Station 45 in suburban Mission Valley.
