Don Brakes In Beaumont
• UPDATED: We now know where Don Brake has landed — he’s the new PD/morning host at Cumulus Media’s KAYD (NASH FM 101.7)/Beaumont, TX. In making the introduction, Charlie Cook, VP of Country Formats, Cumulus Media, said, “I’m so pleased that we got Don into Cumulus. I have known him for many years and I believe that he can bring an exciting, fun morning show to Beaumont.”
Brandin Shaw, Operations Manager of Cumulus Media Beaumont, commented, “We are happy to welcome Don Brake to Cumulus Beaumont. I’m looking forward to working alongside Don to bring new life to mornings on NASH FM 101.7, and to the NASH brand here in Beaumont.”
Late last month we reported that Brake had resigned from West Virginia Radio Corporation, where he had served in the dual role of MD/midday host on WKKW/Morgantown, WV and afternoon talent on WVMD/Cumberland, MD since June 2017. He previously programmed WFRE/Frederick, MD, WHWK/Binghamton, NY and WAYZ/Hagerstown, MD, and he also did mornings on WCAT/Harrisburg, PA. Commenting on his new Texas gig, Brake said, I’m truly excited for the opportunity to program NASH FM 101.7 in Beaumont and revive this heritage station in the hometown of artists like Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd and Clay Walker along with writer Mark Nesler and more. I owe a special thanks to Charlie Cook, and to former Market Manager Elizabeth Blackstock for making it possible for me to join new Market Manager Bo Brown and OM Brandin Shaw’s team and welcoming my family to Texas!”
Brake assumes the KAYD programming reins from Regional PD Tim Murphy, who had been overseeing the station via remote from Country sister KYKZ/Lake Charles, LA. Brake can be congratulated at Don.Brake@cumulus.com.
