Meet Your 2018 MIW Rising Star!
• Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group presented its 2018 “MIW Rising Star Award” to Karalee Misner, an Account Exec with Neuhoff Media in Decatur, IL. Misner was honored last week during the 11th annual “Rising Through the Ranks” Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Program. Formed in 2016 from an alliance with Marketron, the MIW Rising Star is named in honor and memory of the late Renée Roth, Marketron’s longtime VP of International Sales. The award is presented to the top-scoring scholarship applicant from the annual program and includes a scholarship to attend The Radio Show, produced by the RAB and NAB. Misner is a 2008 graduate of Illinois State University who began her radio career in 2017 with Neuhoff Media in Decatur, IL. Before entering the broadcasting industry, she was the Marketing Director at Land of Lincoln Credit Union in Decatur.
The RAB, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), and the MIW Group present “Rising Through the Ranks” each summer. The two-day intensive training seminar was held August 15-16 in BMI’s Nashville offices and supports the advancement of women in radio sales management. Over 20 female radio pros attend annually and a portion of their expenses is covered by scholarships.

She has demonstrated her abilities to both her company and, through her application to ‘Rising Through the Ranks,’ to the organizations that host this unique leadership program. Each of the accomplished ladies in this year’s class earned their seat in the room; however, Karalee walked out with bragging rights as the 2018 MIW Rising Star.
