Remembering Kevin Mahoney

• We were deeply saddened to learn that the tragic and senseless murders in Boulder, CO on Monday that have shattered the lives of so many have also deeply affected a member of our radio community — Erika Mahoney, News Director of NPR affiliate of 90.3 KAZU, serving Monterey, Salinas and Santa Cruz, CA, who on Tuesday reported that her beloved father, 61-year-old Kevin Mahoney was one of the ten victims.

Ms. Mahoney posted the horrific news to Twitter, saying, “I am heartbroken to announce that my Dad, my hero, Kevin Mahoney, was killed in the King Soopers shooting in my hometown of Boulder, CO. My dad represents all things Love. I’m so thankful he could walk me down the aisle last summer.”

Making this news even more tragic, if such a concept is even possible at this stage, Mahoney also tweeted, “I am now pregnant. I know he wants me to be strong for his granddaughter.” [Photo from Twitter]
