Skip Dillard Named PD of 94.7 The Block/NYC
• Audacy welcomes veteran New York programmer Skip Dillard as Brand Manager of the company’s new Classic new Classic Hip Hop WXBK (94.7 The Block)/New York. The station launched on Oct. 22, replacing WNSH (New York’s Country 94.7).
Dillard crosses the street from Mediaco, where he had served 12 years as VP of Programming and Operations Manager for Mediaco’s WBLS and WLIB/New York. For the past year, Dillard served in a new role as Vice President of National and Community Partnerships for WBLS and WQHT (Hot 97).
“Skip knows the music, the artists, the community and this city and has a depth of knowledge and relationships that make him the premiere choice to be the building block for this new brand,” said Chris Oliviero, SVP/Market Manager, Audacy New York. “His arrival solidifies our commitment to making classic hip hop and throwbacks a vibrant sound on the New York dial, and we are excited to welcome him to The Block.”
Dillard’s radio career began at Hampton University’s student radio station, WHOV-FM and as a volunteer at North Carolina A&T State University’s WNAA-FM. Early in his career, Dillard worked in multiple radio markets as both a talent and programmer, including Detroit, Buffalo, New Orleans, San Francisco and Washington D.C. From 2003-2004 Dillard also served as Top 40 and Urban Managing Editor for Billboard‘s former Airplay Monitor publication.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join the Audacy team here in New York City,” said Dillard. “There’s nothing quite like the chance to build a new, fun and exciting station for the greater NYC area that will be rooted in the community. I’m honored to accept the challenge.”
