McCray Comes Home To WMBX
• Proving conclusively that yes, you can go home again, Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach proudly announces the return of Mark McCray as Program Director of the station he originally launched two decades ago — Urban AC WMBX (X102.3). He will also oversee WMEN-AM (Fox Sports 640).
McCray is a 30-year broadcast pro who originally launched WMBX and successfully did mornings there until 2011, when he was named OM/PD of Radio One KBFB & KSOC/Dallas-Ft. Worth, and was later upped to VP of Programming and Operations for Urban One Dallas and Reach Media. More recently he and his former Radio One Dallas GM Gary Spurgeon teamed up to launch Clear Media Network, which they continue to operate.
Elizabeth Hamma, SVP/Market Manager of Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach, commented, “Having Mark come back to the station he launched 20 years ago is a very special homecoming. WMBX is a legendary brand in South Florida with a long record of success and community service, including being nominated by the NAB for a prestigious Marconi Award.” Bruce Logan, OM of Hubbard West Palm, added, “Mark McCray is a world-class programmer and we couldn’t be happier to have him join the stellar programming team at Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach to lead X102.3 and Fox Sports 640.”
McCray commented, “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to help lead Hubbard’s great brands like WMEN and WMBX for a second time. West Palm Beach has always been a special market for me and have some of the best listeners anywhere! Thank you to Elizabeth Hamma, Bruce Logan, Greg Strassell, Dave Bestler and Ginny Morris for asking me to join their already stellar team.” McCray is already on the job and can be congratulated at Mark.McCray@hubbardradio.com.
