98 Rock Seeks APD, McClintock FL-Bound
• Hearst Television’s heritage Rock station WIYY (98 Rock)/Baltimore has initiated a planetwide search for a talented APD to succeed Dan McClintock, who is leaving after a two-year run.
98 Rock PD Rick Strauss broke the news to the staff in a memo that reads, “Late last week, 98 Rock Assistant Program Director Dan McClintock informed me that he and his wife, Nancy, have decided to move back to Pensacola, Florida this summer in order to be closer to family. Nancy is originally from Pensacola, and that is also where she and Dan met.” Strauss continued, “Dan will still be with us over the coming months, giving us ample time to conduct an extensive search for his replacement.”
Launched in 1977, 98 Rock is a tasteful blend of Mainstream, Active, Classic, Alternative Rock and Comedy, boasting the most powerful personality lineup in the market and is the flagship radio station of the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. The complete job posting and online application can be accessed here. EOE.
• Prior to his 2021 arrival in Charm City, McClintock (left) spent 22 years with Cumulus as an OM, PD and Senior Rock Programmer at KCFX (101 The Fox)/Kansas City, WXKR & WRWK/Toledo and WRRX (Rock 106)/Pensacola, FL. “KCFX had never been rated lower than second place from June 2013 through June 2020,” McClintock noted. “For 78 consecutive surveys, KCFX was ranked No. 1 both in Persons and Men 25-54. That KC tenure also included seven seasons as the Programming Coordinator for the Chiefs Radio Network.”
McClintock told RAMP, “My time here at WIYY — a two-time consecutive Marconi finalist for Rock station of the year — has been very rewarding. Special thanks to PD Rick Strauss, GM Dan Joerres and former GM Cary Pahigian for their support in creating one of the best teams in broadcasting!” McClintock can be reached through June at Daniel.Mcclintock@hearst.com as well as at mccfoxrocks@gmail.com.
