KSKS/Fresno Inks Homegrown Morning Show
• Cumulus Country KSKS (93.7 Kiss FM)/Fresno announces the launch of its newly minted morning team: Kris Daniels and Joe Castelan will host the New Kiss Country Morning Show with Kris and Joe starting Monday, July 24. At the same time, longtime Kiss Country personality Jody Jo Mize will shift from mornings to afternoon drive. Mize used to anchor mornings on 93.7 Kiss Country from 2000 through 2008, and did nights prior to that.
The new gig is a homecoming for Daniels, a second-generation radio pro (her father is Country Radio Hall of Famer Larry Daniels), who brings with her more than 20 years of experience to 93.7 Kiss Country, including an earlier stint in Fresno as APD/MD/middays with iHeartMedia rival KHGE (102.7 The Wolf). Daniels earlier served as MD/morning personality at WQNU/Louisville from 2008-2013 and also programmed Beasley’s KCYE (107.9 Coyote Country)/Las Vegas. More recently she was Sr. Manager/Music Programming for Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country in Los Angeles and Executive Network Producer and On-Air Talent for Audacy.
Castelan began his career in the building as Promotions Coordinator Cumulus Fresno, and was most recently Promotions Director and morning talent for Country cousin KATM (Kat Country 103)/Stockton-Modesto, CA. He holds a B.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism, Broadcast Journalism & Public Relations from Cal State Fresno.
Patty Hixson, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Fresno, said: “I’m thrilled to have Kris and Joe on our new morning show at KISS Country — celebrating 31 years as a leader in the Country music format! I know they will take us to new heights and our audience will love them.”
Andy Winford, PD of Kiss Country, noted, “Kris is a phenomenal talent whose reputation precedes her, and I couldn’t be happier to be able to add someone of her caliber. Joe started here and after some quality time with our sister station in Stockton, has developed quickly into a top-notch talent. I can’t wait to see these two take over the market!”
Daniels commented, “To be able to come home, be with family, and do mornings on the legendary Kiss Country is truly an honor!” Castelan remarked, “It’s truly a privilege to be back in my hometown at the original station where I got my start. It’s pretty surreal.”
