Condolences: Shaune Steele

• Shaune Steele, the widow of legendary Boss Jock The Real Don Steele, passed away Friday, Dec. 29 after a brief illness. She was 73.

Much like her late husband, Shaune Steele had her own impressive radio career and was a well-respected Music Director at such iconic Los Angeles stations as RKO’s 93 KHJ (home of Bill Drake‘s “Boss Radio”), KRLA (where she met her future husband), KHTZ (K-Hits), KLSX, KRTH (K-Earth 101), and KCBS-FM.

After Don Steele’s untimely passing in 1997, Shaune remained in Los Angeles, where she worked as a court reporter and later, with the California Highway Patrol.

A native of San Diego, Shaune relocated back there a year and a half ago to be near her family. She is survived by her sisters, Jill Vehanen of San Diego and Candace Perry of Beaverton, OR. [Special thanks to Shotgun Tom Kelly]
