Casey Back At Bat
• Nice to see Casey Atkins back in action so quickly — less than a month after he was downsized as APD and afternoon personality at Beasley Country WKML/Fayetteville, NC, Atkins announced via social media that he has been named Operations Manager for Allegany Communications (a division of WVRC Media) in Cumberland, MD. Atkins will succeed Joe “Crash Kelley” Browning, who left in December.
The new gig marks a return to WVRC Media for Atkins, who, prior to joining WKML in July 2023 spent five years with WVRC Media (formerly West Virginia Radio Corp.) where he did afternoons on heritage Country WKKW/Morgantown, WV, and later hosted the nightly Country Roads With KC on the company’s seven Country stations. Earlier in his career Atkins did part-time at Curtis Media Country 94.7 WQDR/Raleigh.
In a Facebook post, Atkins said, “Even after facing one of the biggest setbacks of my young life last month, I knew in my heart I wasn’t done with radio — and it looks like radio isn’t done with me either. I’m so honored to come back to WVRC Media. I can’t wait to work with a whole new team of high-class air talent and sales superstars in this new season of my career.”
The Cumberland cluster includes Top 40 WQZK, AC WDYK (Magic 100.5), Active Rock 99.5 WDZN, Country WVMD (100.1 The Wolf), and News-Talk-Sports duo WCMD-1230 AM & WKLP-AM (1390 ESPN).
