HOT 97 Realigns… Funk Flex Staying

• Last Thursday, longtime HOT 97/New York veteran Funkmaster Flex teased/scared his nearly four million followers into thinking that his tenure doing 7-midnight at HOT 97/New York was apparently coming to an end via this social post: “THIS MONDAY LABOR DAY SEPTEMBER 1ST WILL BE MY LAST SHOW ON HOT97 AT 7PM! ALL THINGS COME TO AN END! END OF AN ERA THAT I ENJOYED VERY MUCH! I SUPER ENJOYED IT ALL! I WILL MAKE THE LAST SHOW A GREAT ONE! APPRECIATE EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED ME OVER THE YEARS!” He added, “My next move will shock you!”

Upon further review… and a report by TMZ no less, it turns out Flex’s situation is a tad less dramatic than we were led to believe — he’s moving to the slightly more civilized 5-10pm shift, part of an overall staff realignment that starts in morning drive with Ebro In The Morning extended from 6-11am, followed by DJ Drewski rolling from 11am-1pm, and Nessa now heard from 1-5pm. During that shift, DJ Camilo, who previously held the 4-7pm spot, will now spin from 4-5pm, leading into Flex’s new start time.

Sadly, as part of this staff shakeup, DJ Enuff has exited. DJ Enuff thanked his audience via a Friday Instagram post, stating, in part, “NYC, Tri-State! Thank You for 27 unforgettable years. Today is my last day on Hot97, but the music, memories, culture will keep living on.”

As to those unconfirmed reports that longtime HOT 97 MD/VP of Artist & Label Relations TT Torrez is no longer with the company, we were advised to contact her attorneys.
