Frickin’ Lazer News
• There’s a palpable buzz of activity coursing through the hallways of Saga Alternative WLZX (Lazer 99.3 & 105.1)/Springfield, MA, starting with the news of the impending departure of beloved morning host Leslie Hall (left), who announced on-air that she is relocating to Sarasota, FL. Her last day will be June 30.
WLZX Brand Manager Lenny Diana commented, “Leslie has been absolutely fantastic on Lazer for the past 13 years. Not only has she done an amazing job with her show, but her personal touch with her listeners has been exemplary. Her passion and smile around the station will surely be missed. While I’m sad that we are losing a terrific talent, we should be excited for her that she will be moving to one of her favorite states, Florida. If you have spoken with Leslie, you know she’s been talking about this move for years.”
Mr. Diana didn’t exactly have to beat the proverbial bushes to find a worthy successor to Hall — he spun around and tapped current Lazer afternoon personality Pat Kelly (right) to take command of the Lazer dawn patrol, effective July 11. Diana said, “We couldn’t be happier with a person who, for the last 11 years has represented the Lazer brand and will continue to do so for us for the foreseeable future.” Here’s Kelly announcing he’s been chosen as Lazer’s new morning talent.
• And now, the final piece of this radio puzzle — Diana has hired Leah Rantz for afternoon drive, effective July 3.
Rantz (left) is currently MD/midday talent at Adams Radio Group Active Rock WZBH (93.5 The Beach)/Salisbury-Ocean City, MD. Diana said, “We are excited to have Leah join us, as she will bring her addiction to energy drinks, love of Marvel Comics and B-rated horror movies to Western Mass.”
