Cane & Sabrina Wake Up Long Island’s Wolf

• After a weekend of teasing “something new was coming,” Connoisseur Country WWWF (103.1 The Wolf)/Long Island confirmed the launch of a new morning show, Cane & Sabrina, starting Thursday, Sept. 10. The formal announcement came at 7am Tuesday on the heels of a “History Of New York Radio” promo and teaser sweeps from Scott Shannon.

The new show features the pairing of New York market veterans Cane Peterson and “Sabrina From Queens” Sergio. Peterson spent the past four years at Press Communications Classic Hits WWZY (107.1 The Boss)/Monmouth-Ocean, the former radio home of 103.1 The Wolf PD Robby Bridges. Peterson’s lengthy NYC radio resume includes WNYL (ALT 92.3), WNEW, Z100, and the late WXRK (92.3 K-Rock), along with stints at VH1 and SiriusXM.

Sergio, a.k.a. “Sabrina From Queens,” has been doing afternoons on Audacy’s New York’s Country 94.7 HD2 (WXBK-HD2) since January 2022, along with her other role as Sr. Activation Coordinator for Audacy New York. In addition to her new Wolf morning co-host role, Sergio will also serve as APD.

“The opportunity to create a Country radio morning show in one of the largest media markets in the country requires talent who are compelling, edgy, relatable, have a point of view and are completely connected to both the market and the format,” said Robby Bridges. “I have no doubt Cane and Sabrina are that combination.”

“We are extremely excited to bring a new local morning show to Long Island,” said Keith Dakin, SVP Programming, Connoisseur Media. “Bringing Cane back to New York and pairing him with the rising star Sabrina is a perfect match. Our goal is for The Wolf to be more than just Long Island’s Country station — we want to deliver a morning show that is deeply connected to the community, reflects what people are talking about as they sit on the LIE, and gives listeners a reason to start their day with us.”

“Every single person who ever gets a new job and gives quotes sounds like a fake goober,” said Peterson. “The laundry list of people to thank for the wonderful opportunity they’ve always dreamed about working at. Blah. But also, Robby is my boy, Keith and Kristin are awesome, and Connoisseur is killing it. So yeah, thank you. I’m ready to get to work and dominate!”

Sergio remarked, “Joining 103.1 The Wolf is such an exciting next chapter for me! Country music has been such a huge part of my life and career, and there’s nothing I love more than connecting with listeners, discovering new music, and sharing it with people. I’m incredibly grateful to Robby, Keith and Kristin for the opportunity to bring my energy, my love of country music, and my New York perspective to The Wolf. I can’t wait for listeners to get to know me, and for us to have a lot of fun together every morning!”

With the addition of Cane and Sabrina to mornings, The Wolf has finalized its programming lineup, with Compass Media’s Big D & Bubba moving from mornings to Saturday mornings, Carsen hosting middays, Bridges in PM drive and Blitz at night.
