Tropikana To St. Louis, Time For Dimepiece
• Radio One Urban WHHL (Hot 104.1)/St Louis has augmented its programming department (and on-air staff) with the hire of format veteran Tropikana as MD and afternoon drive talent, replacing A-Plus. She made her Hot 104.1 debut yesterday.
In a staff memo, Hot 104.1 PD Boogie D said, “Please join me in welcoming the newest member of the WHHL Hot 104.1 on air family — Lashonda “Tropikana” Hatch. She will be bringing her ‘Trophouse’ radio show to the 2-7pm timeslot on Hot 104.1.”
Ms. Tropikana arrives from Alpha Media Urban WGZB (B96.5)/Louisville, KY where she was doing afternoon drive. Before that she did nights on Radio One Urban WENZ (Z107.9)/Cleveland. Boogie added, “Tropikana will also serve as an on-air talent in two of our Ohio Radio One markets as well as the Hot 104.1 Music Director.”
• Tropikana had also been tracking the midday show on LM Communications’ Urban WBTF (107.9 The Beat)/Lexington, KY, but has had to relinquish that task due to the commitments of her new job. Into the breach steps the talented DJ Dimepiece, who will take over tracking The Beat midday show, starting Monday. Beat PD Jay Alexander commented, “I have known Dimepiece for a long, long time, and watched her growth on the air to a personality that is one of the best in the country! She has name recognition here in the market from working in Cincinnati and Louisville and I know the community will embrace her with open arms!”
Dimepiece, a.k.a. “The Mixin’ Vixen,” is an award-winning club DJ who got her radio start in Cincinnati in 2011. She was most recently MD/afternoon personality on Radio One Urban WIZF (101.1 The Wiz)/Cincinnati until last November. She had also been tracking middays on WCKX (Power 107.5)/Columbus, OH. Dimepiece remarked, “Lexington… are you READY?! I am so excited and looking forward to giving Lexington some ‘Dime Time’ on 107.9 The Beat! It’s ‘Dime Time,’ baby!”
