Republic Names Sano EVP/Film & TV
Republic Records welcomes Grammy® Award-nominated music supervisor Dana Sano aboard as Executive Vice President of Film & Television. The announcement was made by Republic co-Founders and Chief Executives Monte and Avery Lipman. Monte Lipman commented, “I’ve always admired Dana’s independence, resourcefulness and long-standing relationships with today’s top filmmakers and studio executives; her ability to navigate seamlessly through shark-infested waters of Hollywood is nothing short of extraordinary.” Avery Lipman added, “We’re thrilled to have Dana join the creative team of Republic Records. Simply stated, her track-record speaks for itself.”
Indeed, over the course of her 25-year career spanning more than 100 films, and her tenure as a Sr. Music Executive at New Line Cinema, Sano has overseen influential soundtracks and scores, working with Academy® Award-winning directors Paul Thomas Anderson, Sir Richard Attenborough, David Fincher, and more. Collaborating closely with Republic as an independent music supervisor throughout the past decade, Ms. Sano shepherded the platinum-certified Academy® Award-nominated soundtrack albums for the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, personally achieving a 2016 Grammy® nod.
In this new role, Ms. Sano will head the department out of the Los Angeles office and oversee all film and television projects, while also augmenting the launch of the new Federal Films initiative, which will explore non-traditional opportunities for film and TV on behalf of Republic in conjunction with UMG’s Polygram Entertainment division. “An entrepreneurial engine drives Republic,” said Sano. “They’re constantly looking ahead, innovating, and setting the pace for the industry at large. Republic’s expansion into content branding will allow for bigger opportunities in the film, TV and theatre mediums. It’s an amazing honor to embark on this next chapter with them.”
