Why Don’t We All Pitch In!
KRBE/Houston‘s “Care-A-Van” campaign offered volunteer services and donations to Kids’ Meals and the Houston Food Bank on Sunday afternoon, September 10. As a special bonus, Atlantic Records’ up-and-coming pop boy band Why Don’t We took time out of their busy promotional tour to visit these charitable organizations to help Houstonians affected by Hurricane Harvey. The KRBE Squad and Why Don’t We helped pack boxes as well as donate cleaning supplies, paper products, diapers, water and food items.
Afterwards, the KRBE “Care-A-Van,” which is comprised of station volunteers and fans who won via KRBE’s contests, spent the afternoon at Kids’ Meals making 1,041 lunches for pre-school-aged children and their families who need help throughout the year, especially during this devastating time, post-Harvey.
The five members of Why Don’t We — Daniel Seavey, Corbin Besson, Zach Herron, Jonah Mariah and Jack Avery — were also interviewed by KRBE personality Tyler Frye, took photos with fans and volunteers and later surprised everyone with an impromptu performance. They also recorded a special song to send to The Ellen DeGeneres Show asking Ellen to invite Kids’ Meals to her show.
Alex Cadelago, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media Houston stated, “KRBE has a long history of serving the community and we’re currently supporting the victims of Hurricane Harvey in many ways. Our team is forever grateful to Why Don’t We for participating in the ‘KRBE Care-A-Van’ relief effort. Their willingness to help people in need says a lot about the character these young men have. KRBE thanks you… and H-Town thanks you!” #HOUSTONSTRONG
