Kingston’s WRNR Puts Out The ‘Tip Jar’
• Like many radio stations across America, Triple A WRNR/Annapolis, MD, owned by Steve Kingston‘s Empire Broadcasting, is facing its share of unique financial challenges directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to meet this shortfall head-on, Kingston is taking his case directly to his most loyal constituents… his listeners.
In a Facebook post, Kingston explained, “Many radio stations, media companies and of course other businesses are struggling financially due to COVID-19… some have eliminated staff (dislocation), cut salaries and non-essential spending on such things as marketing. We are trying something different.”
To that end, the station has boldly kicked off a unique concept — the “WRNR Tip Jar.” As Kingston notes, “Through tasteful, real, honest on-air promos, we’re asking listeners to donate spare change or whatever they can to help maintain the expense of running WRNR-FM, a live and local, independently owned radio station. Fingers crossed!”
Please take a few moments, and drop whatever you can into the WRNR Tip jar via its companion GoFundMe page and help out a brother broadcaster. Thank you in advance!
