SiriusXM’s Ryan & Numan Now Available

• Last week SiriusXM announced it was cutting about 160 positions, about 3% of the company’s workforce. Sadly, among those downsized were two longtime company veterans — Jim Ryan and Human Numan, both 20+ year SiriusXM pros.

• During his two-decade run, Ryan (left) helped to build some of the company’s signature brands, including 80s on 8 with the Original MTV VJs, The Pulse, The Blend, Pop Rocks, and the Disney Hits channel.

Ryan also created “Pop-Up” limited-run channels, including Coldplay Radio, Duran Duran Future Past Radio, The Ed Sheeran Channel, Moonbug Radio, and the Billboard Awards Show Channel.

In his not-so-spare time Ryan also hosted shows on 90s on 9, The Pulse, Pop Rocks, and Pop 2K while also voicing a feature segment on The Beatles Channel. Ryan’s earlier stops include WALK & WKJY/Long Island and eight years in Philadelphia at WPLY, Max 95.7 and WMGK.

Ryan is now looking for his next opportunity and can be reached at JimRyan0420@gmail.com or 732-998-9480

• Numan (right) joined the full-time airstaff of Sirius US-1, and remained in the channel’s noon-4pm ET slot for five years, signing off ‘Hits 1’ after the merger with XM in 2008. During his run, the company went from less than 200,000 subscribers to 34 million. Numan also launched and programming various music channels, and hosted shows under various pseudonyms: “Donnie Hustle” on The Strobe dance channel, and “Miles Hampton” on Radio Margaritaville. More recently, Numan was reporting to Alex Tear and Lou Simon while programming and managing more than 10 channels and streams.

Numan’s remarkably prolific pre-satellite radio career includes stops at some of the industry’s most respected call letters… brace yourselfKIIS-FM/Los Angeles, Z100/New York, KDWB/Minneapolis,WZOU/Boston, KKBQ/Houston, Q102/Philadelphia, Y100/Miami, KZQZ/San Francisco, and Q105/Tampa, just to scratch the surface. Oh, and speaking of “assumed names,” Numan famously employed multiple identities over the course of his career, starting as “Shotgun” Jeff Stone (1976-1979); Cat Summers (1981-1983); Randy “Easy” Street (1983-1984); and as radio’s first documented “Cadillac Jack” (1985-1989).

Numan is also ready for his next adventure and can be contacted at 818-940-0065 or myhumannuman@gmail.com.
