Wells Headed Home To Chicago
• After two years at the helm of Mid-West Family Broadcasting’s cluster in Springfield, IL, it has been reported that veteran Chicago radio executive Harvey Wells has exited and is returning home to Chicago for family reasons.
Wells arrived in Springfield in November 2016 to oversee News-Talk WMAY-AM/FM, Active Rock WQLZ, Country WUSW (US 92.7) and AC WNNS after operating his own Chicago-based consultancy. Wells previously spent four years as SVP/Market Manager for CBS Radio’s Riverside, CA group, VP/Group Station Manager for Newsweb Radio Company in Chicago, VP of Nine-FM Radio and VP/GM of CBS Radio’s WUSN, WCKG, WXRT and WSCR/Chicago.
As reported by Chicago media columnist Robert Feder, Wells commented, “I cannot say enough good things about Mid-West Family Broadcasting, and feel fortunate to have spent two-plus years at an employee-owned company. It truly makes a difference when you walk in the door and your fellow workers also have an ownership interest in the company. However, the one family that has to come before the Mid-West Family is my own.”
