Kristina & Brian Wake Up Hampton Roads
• Max Media AC WVBW (92.9 The Wave)/Norfolk-Virginia Beach is proud to introduce its new morning show — The Wave Wake up with Kristina & Brian will entertain the market weekdays from 5-10am, starting Monday, September 21. This newly minted morning duo features radio vet Kristina Carlyle and her new partner Brian Chesworth.
Carlyle was most recently MD/morning co-host on Albany Broadcasting Country WKLI (100.9 The Cat)/Albany, NY. Before that she spent some quality years in Tulsa, OK, logging time as APD/MD/afternoons at Griffin Communications’ Country KVOO, PD of iHeartMedia rival KTGX (106.1 The Twister), and APD/MD/middays at Cox Media Group’s KWEN (K95). Earlier in her career Carlyle spent eight years with Cumulus Country KRST/Albuquerque, NM and served as Director of Midwest and Southwest Promotion for Sidewalk Records. Oh, and she also served in the U.S. Navy and was in the Naval Reserves for seven years as a hospital corpsman. Chesworth, we are told, “has worked as a dog trainer, tugboat deckhand and dabbled on air in Jazz & Country radio in Virginia.” So there’s that.
“I’m very excited for Kristina & Brian to join Max Media and The Wave,” said Eddie Haskell, VP of Operations & Programming of Max Media Hampton Roads. “They’re a perfect fit and will wake up Hampton Roads with a healthy dose of pop culture, wit, fun and music from the ’80s to now. WVBW Brand Manager Jay West added, “After reaching out to established duos, we kept coming back to the sound we got from pairing Kristina & Brian. They’ll bring fresh voices to live & local morning radio plus relatable content and listener interaction missing in the 757.”
Effective Sept. 21, The Wave’s weekday lineup looks like this — 5-10am: Kristina & Brian; 10am-3pm: Jen Lewis (moves from mornings); 3-7pm: Jay West; 7-midnight: Marketing Director Storm Avery.
