Matthews Ready To Drive ABQ Home

Scott Matthews has arrived in Albuquerque, NM as the new afternoon drive talent at American General Media Classic Rock KIOT (Coyote 102.5), starting Wednesday. The move marks a return to New Mexico — and to AGM — for Matthews, who programmed Lotus Classic Hits KTHI (107.1 K-Hits)/Boise, ID for four years until last September.

Matthews previously programmed iHeartMedia Top 40 KAZX & Classic Hits KKFG-FM/Farmington, NM. Earlier OM/PD stops include Hutton Broadcasting in Santa Fe, NM, and he notably enjoyed a prior run with American General Media at KPTE & KDGO/Durango, CO a few years back. Matthews has also been on-air at KIMN and KYGO/Denver.

“It’s great to bring Scott back into the American General Media family and have him live and local for entertainment and building connection with our listeners,” said Scott Wiggins, GM of AGM Albuquerque.

KIOT PD Sam Newton commented, “We are excited to bring another experienced radio professional into the building and look forward to another long run of success on-air and in the community.”

Matthews said, “‘Get me back to New Mexico!’ was my answer to Sam’s interview, and I am looking forward to reconnecting with a great community and company.” Matthews replaces James Barreras, who retired in December after 30 years in the ABQ market.
