• Howard University’s WHUR/Washington, DC is pleased to welcome market veteran Sunni Puric, a.k.a. “Sunni and The City” as its new midday personality, starting Thursday. Watch Sunni break her big news here.
WHUR Director of Programming & Operations Al Payne said, “Is there a word to describe when GREAT meets GREAT? We spoke with a lot of incredible people, but all the roads led back home. Sunni is on the A-List of DMV TV, radio, social life, and social media. Her work to empower women is unmatched as well. WHUR is changing the DC daily forecast with a guarantee of Sunni days along with our (Quiet) Storms at night.”
Sunni is best known in the DMV for her lengthy stint across the street with Audacy Urban WPGC, where she worked in middays, mornings and middays again from 2011 until 2021. At the age of 18, Sunni landed her first radio job and went on to work in Detroit and Miami. She also wrote a book, Still I Shine, which chronicles her journey from the refugee camps to her rise in radio and media.
“I am so incredibly honored to be your next midday host at WHUR,” Sunni said. “To start this next chapter of my radio career in such a legendary space is a total dream come true.”
